I just discovered this 3 member British band. The songs on their Myspace page are good, especially, "Girls and Boys". Great harmonies between the male guitar player, and the female bass player. They're at Bottom of the Hill, Wensday, July 30, with a local band The Bruises.

Disintegration's HUGE HAlloween bash is tomorrow Saturday October 27th!!!This is the party of the year and not to be missed!! We go full out with decor, prizes and festivity!!

Disintegration was one of two places in Denver chosen to promote the new Ian Curtis/Joy Division movie "CONTROL." The promotional party, complete with give-aways, trailer clips, and more happens to fall on the same weekend as Disintegration's massive Halloween celebration. So in memory of Ian Curtis, and many other musicians and artists that have influenced our generation, Disintegration is proud to present "DEAD SOULS" a Halloween/Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 27 at The Atrium (554 S. Broadway, Denver, CO).

Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the costume contest. In order to be eligble for the contest, you do need to be dressed in the theme... either Dia De Los Muertos or a dead idol of your liking... Of course costumes are encouraged even if you're not going to be in the contest. It's Halloween and dressing up is always fun!
Values of prize packages (consisting of items from our 7 sponsors) are over $350 for 1st, over $250 for 2nd and over $150 for 3rd. We will also be giving goody bags for the first 50 costumed patrons, and there will also be a raffle containing several
BPAL items!!!

Klaxons won Mercury Prize

Klaxons won the Mercury Prize for best album. I think this was by far the best choice. I heard them interviewed on XFM afterward, and they kind of dissed Amy Winehouse, saying her music was retro, so she didn't deserve to win.

Definitely beats camping in some Southern Californian desert!

Life in the 'burghs

As some of you know I recently moved from SF to Pittsburgh
I think its fair to say that Pittsburgh is not quite as well served by bands as SF was.
Today however made up for all Pittsburgh failings in Britpop band-dom.
I went to see Kasabian at a fabulous venue....Mr Smalls which is a converted church. Kasabian played to the crowd of 250 with as much vigour as if it were a crowd of 5000. It was one of the best concerts I've ever seen

Hi Guys,
It is with great sadness that I must tell you we have had to cancel our forthcoming US Tour, due to the development of Tendonitis in Barry's left wrist. He has been advised to rest and, as far as we can see, there is no way of us being able to make those shows work, given the state of his wrist.
We are all deeply disappointed at having to pull the shows at such a late stage, but there is no way around it for us. Apologies to the people with tickets - we promise to get out to the US at the next available opportunity. The UK tour will not be affected by this given that there are some months before it begins.
Again, we are deeply sorry, but I guess we have to focus on Barry making progress toward recovery, and only rest will enable that.

GLASGOW, SCOTLAND—Lead singer and guitarist for pop band Franz Ferdinand, Alexander Kapranos, is in critical condition today after being shot by a man identified as the bassist for rock group Gavrilo Princip. "We ask fans to cooperate with Interpol to find the assailant, and call upon British Sea Power, Snow Patrol, and The Postal Service for help," drummer Paul Thompson told music magazine NME Monday. "The suspect had links to The Decemberists and The Libertines, and we are following up on all leads." It is unclear whether the shooting was linked to The Polyphonic Spree's invasion of Belgium earlier this week.

AUSTIN, Texas (Billboard) - Pioneering U.K. modern rock band the Smiths turned down a $5 million offer to reunite at the upcoming Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival in southern California, former frontman Morrissey said Thursday.

His revelation, during a public interview at the South By Southwest Music & Media Conference in Austin, triggered gasps from the audience. When journalist David Fricke asked if he had considered it, Morrissey replied, "No, because money doesn't come into it," a response that drew applause from the crowd.

Of the critically adored act, which broke up in the late 1980s, Morrissey said, "It was a fantastic journey. And then it ended. I didn't feel we should have ended. I wanted to continue. (Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr) wanted to end it. And that was that."

Discussing his forthcoming album, "Ringleader of the Tormentors," due April 4 via Attack/Sanctuary, the notoriously gloomy singer/songwriter admitted that he's writing songs from a good place these days.

"I'm just seeing lots of joyful things in life, which I didn't in the past," he said, adding slyly, "Which maybe you noticed.

"Politically the world is ridiculous," he said. "But there's still a lot of beautiful things ... Nature saves us, nature calms us down."

Morrissey will first support the album with a European tour that includes a six-week run of sold-out shows in the United Kingdom. A North American leg is also expected.

Coachella, which takes place April 29-30 about 120 miles east of Los Angeles, will feature such acts as Depeche Mode, Tool and Madonna.

the Bats.....instore Amoeba March 22 6pm.....then at the Rickshaw Stop later that evening....I'm at least going to the instore.........alot of those NZ bands were nearly or as great as any of the Brit ones.......check out the Chills for instance.........superb stuff!!!!

I bought "The Back Room" last week and I have to say it's been the best purchase I've made since Bloc Party.
I immediately went out to their website and bought an advance ticket to their show in SF in April. Anyone else like this band or are going to the show?
