Long Blondes[Sheffield] June 12-Popscene[already got tix!].......2 other bands to watch and that are a lil' under the radar but great.......Mystery Jets[Eel Pie Island] June 11-Cafe Du Nord and last but not least the Veils[New Zealand/London] June 28-Cafe du Nord!!

Wed, May 16, 2007 - 5:34 PMI already have tickets for the Mystery Jets at Cafe du Nord (I think they're also playing the Independent the following night) and the Veils. I'll have to think about the Long Blondes on June 16 (not the 12th).
I also have tickets for Hot Chip at The Fillmore, which really is on the 12th. -

Sat, May 19, 2007 - 11:26 AMgood going! may have to skip the Mystery Jets[still working damn nightshift]......don't forget the Pipettes at Rickshaw on the 12th also.....I may try to get there.........really excited about the Veils who I have been praising for months!!!! apparently,they have 2 shows in NYC and are sellouts!!!! you must check out "Nux Vomica" on Rough Trade......Finn Andrews[son of Barry-XTC/Shriekback] is a glorious frontman.....and a looker too!!! check out vids on YouTube........ -

Sat, June 30, 2007 - 4:27 PMDP- the single girl who danced near us all night,(black vest?), paced nervously after the concert, then sat down on the edge of the stage- was she overcome by Finn's looks? Was she going to take him up on his offer to hear him singing her favorite songs, acoustic in the back room? I also overheard the guy who saw them in NY, and had to see them again, say to his buddy: "she's so hot,(bass player), why do you think I'm seeing them again." -

Thu, July 19, 2007 - 1:00 AMSaw them at the Independent a couple of months ago (supporting Birdmonster, who we didn't bother staying to see). They were fabulous and didn't seem bothered that there were only a dozen or so of us really there to see them. Since then, they have an excellent new album out, which I've been listening to a lot.
Highly recommended! -
